We are going to be changing the the way we manage urine testing at Hope Family Medical Centre
If you think you have a urine infection you will need to fill out a Klinik form or speak to one of our reception team, we will let you know if we need you to bring us in a urine sample.
We have made three changes to the current system.
- Please do not bring in a urine sample unless you have asked to. Any urine sample brought in not requested will not be tested.
- Any sample requested will need to be brought in by 12.30 . Only in exceptional circumstances will a sample be requested after this time, the clinician requesting the sample will make the reception team aware of this.
- In line with NICE and All Wales guidance we are no longer dipping urine to diagnose infection. This is because it is not a reliable way of testing for infection in many patient groups. In these cases, we will send your sample to the hospital laboratory for testing
We will be running our old system for a few weeks alongside the new system, to give our patients time to adjust to our new process.
